Ocean City American Legion Post 524 will again invite area golfers to support veterans and community activities by playing in the 2014 Jace Clark Memorial Golf Tournament at Harbor Pines Golf Club on Monday,  Sept. 22.

The event will be a four-player scramble from a shotgun start with registration beginning at 10 a.m., lunch served at 11 a.m. and tee-off at noon. Following the tournament, there will be an awards dinner and a silent auction.

“Post 524 is among the most active in New Jersey, and we are proud of the role we play in the Ocean City community,” Commander Bob Marzulli said. “We are proud to sponsor many Legion programs, including the American Legion Boys and Girls State, and Veterans Affairs andrehabilitation programs, including Operation Wounded Warrior. We are also very active in Holiday Food Drives for our Ocean City families, and last January Post 524 said ‘thank you’ to the town’s Police Motorcycle Squad by donating $1,000 to their privately funded maintenance program.”

The tournament will include a putting contest, two hole-in-one challenges, a wine hole, and a unique farthest-from-the-hole contest. Sponsors are still being sought for lunch, dinner, refreshment cart, golf ball giveaways, individual holes and the various tournament contests. Golfers can sign-up for the complete list of activities for $140. Dinner-only guests are invited at a cost of $35.00 each.

“Our members are the backbone of our Post,” said Marzulli. “ We are always looking for new members to join us and lend a helping hand. If you are a veteran, the son of a veteran, or would like to join the Ladies Auxiliary, please contact me.”
