Trail of Two Cities 5K Run/Walk Set for Saturday

The 25th annual Trail of Two Cities 5K Run/Walk that travels the new Route 52 causeway between Ocean City and Somers Point is set for 8 a.m.  Sat., Nov. 1.

The event begins at the Transportation Center at Ninth Street and Haven Avenue in Ocean City and ends at JFK Park in Somers Point.

The south side of the causeway (inbound to Ocean City) will be closed to traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The point-to-point scenic course takes runners and walkers over the two tall bridges of the causeway.

The run is open to all ages from 9-and-under to 70-and-over. Race-day registration at the Ocean City Transportation Center is $30. Pre-registration closed on Oct. 29.

Awards are given to first overall male and female in age groups and top three male and female finishers. Age groups are under 9 years, 9-11, 12-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus.

Commemorative shirts are guaranteed to first 400 registrants while supplies last. Refreshments will be available at the end of the race. Beat the crowd and pick up entry packet, (pre-registrants only) Fri. Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center, 1735 Simpson Ave.

Race Day registration starts 7 a.m. at the Transportation Center. Bus will be available at the finish line in Somers Point to transport runners to start before the race. Bus will transport runners back to Ocean City following the race. The award ceremony will be held in Somers Point after all runners have completed the course.
