The third annual Spooks N Kooks Costume Surf Contest is open to all and takes place Saturday morning (Oct. 11) at First Street Beach.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on the beach at First Street. More information and online registration is available on the Spooks N Kooks Facebook event page.
Entry fee is five canned goods or a clothing donation. The event benefits local nonprofit organizations providing food and clothing. It is run in association with Surfrider Foundation, South Jersey Chapter and hosted by NPN — No Passports Needed.
The costume counts as the first wave of the best three waves. Rides are judged on character on wave, execution and costume usage. Judges will be looking for surprises.
An after-party will be held at Clancy’s by the Bay in Somers Point at 8 p.m. with DJ Nick Teti and drink specials all night.
