A field of 760 runners started the new year with a 3.1-mile dash down the Ocean City Boardwalk on Friday.

Matt Hayes, a 20-year-old from Drexel Hill, Pa., won the race in 16:39, and Emma Zwall, just 12 years old, of Ivyland, Pa., was the top female in 19:25. Her 14-year-old was just 12 seconds behind as second female.
