The Ocean City Corvette Show is billed as an event that includes “more than 350 Corvettes, including every model ever manufactured.”

A few of the 475 Corvettes that participated in the Ocean City, NJ Corvette Show on Sunday drive onto the Boardwalk for the annual event.

But 475 Corvettes showed up for the annual show on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21).

The number of cars was the most ever, according to Betty Agasar, a representative of Boardwalk Corvettes of Atlantic City, the club that sponsors the show.

The number of participants is limited only by the capacity of the Ocean City Boardwalk to display them. The cars were lined up bumper-to-bumper in two lines between Sixth and 14th streets, and the club ran out of room, Agasar said.

Corvette owners are being asked to pre-register next year to ensure participation.

The popularity of the event is a testament to both pride of ownership in the classic American car and affection for the shore town that hosts the show.

“I love the Ocean City show,” said Joe Santini of Oaklyn, who never misses the event. “The people are phenomenal. The club is phenomenal.”

Thousands of visitors strolled the Ocean City Boardwalk on Sunday looking at the various models, including a 1953 Corvette that was just the 19th ever manufactured in the year of its debut.

George Walloff of Ocean City purchased it in 1975 from the original owner, Allan Kelper of East Stroudsburg, Pa. Kelper bought it after it spent its first six months on display at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City.
