The Ocean City Board of Realtors will extend its February food drive for another week, because of so much inclement weather this month.
The “Food Is Love, Share Some Love” drive to collect food, including canned items, juice, microwaveable pasta meals and more will now run through March 7. It had been scheduled to end Feb. 28.
The drive is part of an annual community service project from Realtors in Ocean City.
The winter food drive asks for contributions of food items, monetary donations as well as ShopRite gift cards, which will be donated to the Ocean City Ecumenical Council Food Cupboard to provide for local needy families.
Donations can be dropped off at the office of the Ocean City Board of Realtors at 405 22nd Street. Call the office at 609-399-0128 for pickup service.
Here is a brief list of some of the items that the Food Cupboard has identified a shortage of and is in need for:
  • Hormel Microwaveable Meals
  • Microwaveable spaghetti O’s, lasagna, meatballs & spaghetti, ravioli
  • Canned meats (corn beef hash, Spam, Dinty Moore stew, etc)
  • Jelly, Peanut Butter
  • Juice
  • Tomato pasta sauce (26 oz)
  • Canned beans
  • Liquid laundry detergent (48oz)
  • Dish detergent, Paper towels

“We hope to encourage our fellow Realtors, friends and neighbors to donate items that are much needed for the Ecumenical Food Cupboard that will ‘Share Some Love’ this winter for families in need,” said Gloria Votta, chair of the Board of Realtors’ Community Services Committee.
