With plenty of pomp and just enough circumstance, the Ocean City Intermediate School capped off a successful year with its annual promotional ceremony.
A packed house of parents, friends and relatives looked on as the school officially sent off the class of 2017 for a fun-filled summer in anticipation of their next school year as high school freshmen.
The class marched in to the sounds of the concert band, followed by the Flag Salute led by Nicholas Bell.
Principal Mr. Haines welcomed all and presented several teacher recognitions.
Madison Morgan then delivered the first student address, followed by the donation of a surfboard by Aaron Bogushefsky.
Next came numerous awards to individual students, presented through the generosity of Ocean City civic clubs and organizations.
Then came special music from the Choral Ensemble, led by Mrs. Kramm-Rowe.
Luke Gallagher delivered the second student address of the program, followed by academic awards, presented by Mr. Pruitt, and recognition awards presented by Mr. Haines.
The class of 2017 was then presented by Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kathleen Taylor.
At the conclusion for the formal program, the graduating students mingled with their friends and family members. All agreed it was a special event for everyone involved.
