The Ocean City Police Department issued four summonses to David S. Miller of the 900 block of Wesley Avenue after a day-long search for a vehicle allegedly involved in a hit-and-run crash on Monday morning.
Police accuse Miller of hitting and causing substantial damage to a parked car on the 3100 block of Asbury Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. Monday (March 2) then leaving the scene of the accident.
The accident was captured on video from a neighboring Berger Realty office and that led to a search for a damaged blue pickup truck with a cab that was filmed on Asbury Avenue about the time of the accident.
By late afternoon, police found the vehicle parked a short distance away at a construction site near 34th Street and Asbury Avenue, where the Sweet Spot eatery and upstairs residential units are under construction.
Miller is charged with careless driving, failing to maintain a lane, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.
An overnight sleet and rain storm turned icy in the pre-dawn hours in Ocean City, leading to slick roads and a two-hour postponement for the Ocean City School District.
Matt Ulmer, son of the parked vehicle’s owner, had posted photos and video on social media in an effort to locate the hit-and-run driver and vehicle.
