Participants in the 2018 Museum T-Shirt Contest. Unfortunately, the ladies were not winners, but they still had fun and like supporting the Museum. From Left: Susan Hohman, Barbara Stefano, Judi Levy, Noel Wirth and Carol Dotts.

The Ocean City Historical Museum would like to thank the community for their support in our annual T Shirt contest. We raised more than $1,000 dollars. Thanks to the business sponsors’ generosity we were able to award tremendous prizes to each division. There are 4 divisions: Commercial, Comic, Creative, and Vintage. Each contestant was able to enter a shirt in each division. The public was asked to vote as often as they liked. This contest is not just a fundraiser, it is all about getting the community involved in something fun while creating a buzz about the museum and you creating your own history.

T-Shirt Contest winner, Kelsea Bowman wears her winning tee, “Keep Swimming Dummies.” Along with Grace Oves representing the family’s business, Oves’ Restaurant, winners of the Commercial category. Not far is Charlie Bowman’s Rec. Dept. shirt from the 1970s which took home the Vintage category.

Congratulations to all our winners! This year’s winners in all four categories are:

Commercial: “Oves Restaurant.” Celebrating 50 years on the Boardwalk, the Oves Family thought it would be great time to highlight their seafood dinners with their shirt, which said, “Where real seafood lovers eat,” featuring sea creature dining out.
Creative: “Nice to Eat You.” Caroline Bowman brought her creative talents with puffy paint to make a funny T-Shirt with a shark leaping up to chomp on some unsuspecting swimmers. Caroline “really” loves sharks. She has actually worked with them during her studies at college and tagged them in Florida.
Comedic: “Keep Surfing Dummies.” Kelsea Bowman said, “I am very happy with the prizes, but for me it was really about creating a shirt with my sister that everybody thought was funny.”
Vintage: “Ocean City Recreation.” Charlie Bowman, Jr. dusted an oldie, but a goodie from his days working with the Rec. Dept. in the 1970s.
