The latest project for Ocean City authors and historians Fred and Susan Miller  is a book on the historic hotels of Ocean City.

Fred Miller will present a lecture at the Ocean City Historical Museum 7 p.m. Thursday (July 10) on the newly released publication. Admission is open to the public, and the new book will be on sale — with the author signing copies.

Ocean City’s Historic Hotels features the 1925 Ocean City lifeguards standing in front of the Flanders Hotel. It’s a fitting cover for a book that includes a chapter titled “Flanders Hotel and Lifeguards—Perfect Together.”

The book is replete with photos from the early days of the city and features the 91st anniversary of the Flanders Hotel among other sites.

The Millers have published a series of historical books on Ocean City, including a general history tracing the city from its early founders to the present, Susan’s delightful coffee-table book of picture postcards, and Fred’s fact-filled history of the city’s lifeguard crews.

A members’ reception to celebrate the museum’s 50th anniversary follows the presentation. Memberships are currently available at the Museum and new members will be welcome at Thursday’s lecture. The Museum is in the midst of a new members drive with memberships ranging from $25 for individuals, $50 for families, $125 for benefactor. Corporate sponsorships are also provided by businesses in Ocean City.

The museum is located within the Ocean City Community Center at 1735 Simpson Avenue. Visit ocnjmuseum.org for more information.
