The Ocean City Board of Education took time before its regular meeting on Wednesday to recognize the achievements of Ocean City High School athletes and scholars.
The board also accepted a $5,000 donation from the Ocean City Junior Wrestling program for the purchase of a new wrestling mat at the Ocean City Intermediate School. The board later approved the other half of a $10,000 appropriation for the purchase of the mat.

Ocean City High School junior Alec Helm was recognized by Superintendent Kathleen Taylor for his work in helping to organize events for Autism Awareness Month in the district.Ocean City High School senior Cooper Gallagher was honored for finishing his varsity wrestling career with 104 wins — only four other Ocean City wrestlers have reached 100 wins. Gallagher was the Region 8 champion and went 37-3 at 182 pounds. Nunan became the first individual state champion (500 free) for Ocean City since 1963 (when Mike Hamilton achieved the feat).
