Artists young and old gathered on the beach at Sixth Street on Wednesday morning to work in an Ocean City medium: sand.
The first of two annual Sand-Sculpting Contests was held July 9 and included about 20 entries. The sun burned through the clouds for the 9 a.m. event and the wind remained calm.
The next contest is scheduled for Aug. 6 at the same time of day and location.
The event is catered to amateurs — families, friends and individuals who just like doing it for fun. Entry is free. Contest categories are: age 5 and under, 6-8, 9-12, teens, individual adult and families. Prizes are awarded.
