Just three days before the first day of spring, a winter storm dumped about six inches of a slushy snow on Ocean City early on Monday (March 17).

The Ocean City School District announced early Monday that school would be closed for the fifth time this year due to inclement weather.

The Ocean City Free Public Library, Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center and other Community Center facilities are expected to open at noon on Monday.

A light snow continues to fall on Monday morning, but the precipitation is expected to end about noon.

With air temperatures hovering at the freezing mark on Sunday night and early Monday morning, snow began to accumulate on the ground and other surfaces before it stuck to the streets. But by Monday morning, roadways were covered in a watery snow and slush. Most main thoroughfares, including the causeways onto the island, are clear.
