The fair-skinned of the world gathered en masse Thursday on the Music Pier for Ocean City’s annual Freckle Contest.
On a rainy evening when the boardwalk’s outdoor Family Night entertainment was cancelled, big crowds of the freckled and their fans gathered in the loggia of the Ocean City Music Pier.
The competition is for folks with the most freckles. It is divided into age groups: 5-and-under, 6-8, 9-12, teens and adults. Prizes are awarded.

Emily Daprato, 8, of Northfield wins the category for ages 6-8.
