Dear Friends,

Atlantic City Electric has notified us of a planned power outage at 9 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 26. The interruption of service will affect the area between North Street and 13th Street and is expected to last no more than 15 minutes. We will send reminders to residents of the affected area as the outage approaches.

Please remember that the regular trash and recycling pickup schedule is in place for President’s Day on Monday. The only holidays that affect the regular schedule are Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

I want to let you know that Police Chief Chad Callahan will be out on medical leave for an orthopedic surgery starting next Friday. Capt. Jay Prettyman will serve as interim chief while Chad is gone. I hope you’ll all join me in wishing Chad a speedy rehabilitation.

The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new officers at an installation dinner last night. Congratulations to Dave Allegretto, the new president. The partnership between the Chamber and the city is vital to the success of many events and programs in Ocean City, and I look forward to working with Dave. As an Ocean City native, financial planner and long-time community volunteer, he will be perfectly suited for the job. I want to thank Carol Heenan for doing an exceptional job as president for the past two years. I also want to commend the directors and board members who volunteer their time to help all businesses in town.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend.

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
