The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, June 13.

Dear Friends,

I would like to welcome the New Jersey Jeep Association to Ocean City for the second annual “Jeep Invasion.”  Over 400 jeeps will line Asbury Avenue Friday night and the Boardwalk Saturday afternoon.  This event is a wonderful partnership between the Jeep Association, the City, the Downtown Merchants Association, the Boardwalk Merchants and the Chamber of Commerce.  As a result of this collaboration, hundreds of jeep families will stay in town for the Father’s Day weekend, and thousands more will attend the events to check out the jeeps on display.

A special feature of this year’s jeep weekend is a fireworks show on Saturday evening presented by the Boardwalk Merchants Association.  The fireworks display will begin at 10:30 PM on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

Another longstanding Ocean City tradition occurs this week.  We are pleased to welcome the Miss New Jersey Pageant and all of the contestants and their families to Ocean City.  I would like to thank the Pageant Committee for their longstanding partnership with the City, and we wish all of the contestants the best of luck.

I would like to wish a happy Father’s Day to all, especially my dad. I hope each of you has a wonderful Father’s Day with your family in America’s Greatest Family Resort.

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
