It might seem like an oversimplification, but in today’s complicated world, simple can be a good thing.
“Our goal is to make you look and feel your best,” says Kelly Blomdahl owner of Kelly’s Creations Salon and Spa, conveniently located at 1245 Asbury Avenue in Ocean City. And isn’t that what going to the salon is supposed to be all about?
“I’m picky about getting my hair cut, honestly I don’t do anything complicated I just want someone who will cut my hair right,” said an on-line reviewer. After searching for years since the last perfect hair stylist left one of my salons, I found (one of Kelly’s team members).”
Kelly calls her highly trained staffers “my PHD’s: professional hair dressers.”
This salon is not just for women. Drop in anytime and you are just as likely to find men of all ages as well as kids. On a recent visit a young girl was having her Halloween ‘do perfected while a 40-somehting gentleman dropped in for a haircut. The staff took care of him next to a woman undergoing a color treatment. The one thing they all have in common is satisfaction with the final result.
Naturally, Kelly’s Creations offers hair cutting, coloring and styling; they also specialize in skin care, make-up, manicures and pedicures, waxing and the perfect “up-do” for proms, weddings or any other special occasion.
The Spa portion of the business is popular in today’s stress-riddled world, providing a relaxing respite from everyday rigors. But as Kelly relates, a god massage can actually provide medically therapeutic benefits.
“Massage therapy can help with tight muscles,” she said, “but massage can also move the synovial fluid in your body. This is the fluid that lubricates our joints, and for people with arthritis and other conditions, it can build up in joints and cause pain. A massage can help move the fluid and provide some pain relief.”
Kelly said the salon offers all types of Spa packages and gift certificates to give a special experience to that special person. These range from the “Ultimate Spa Day” including a one-hour massage, a facial, a spa manicure and a spa pedicure (a $213 value for $192) to the “Special”, a European facial and a half hour massage for $112, a $125.00 value.
Clients may also create their own custom spa package by selecting spa services off the menu and taking 10 percent off the cost of three or more services.
Another aspect of Kelly’s business you might not find at a typical salon is a full range of wedding planning services.
“Even relatively small weddings can require a great deal of planning in order to pull them together in time,” she said.
Pulling such wedding planning details together is all in a day’s work at Kelly’s Creations.
They even do temporary henna tattoos.
“We will pamper you from head to toe,” Kelly promised.
