John William Andrews “Jack”, 85 of Ocean City

John William Andrews “Jack”, 85 of Ocean City, passed away on October 10th at home. He was born in Johnstown, PA to John and Beatrice Andrews on 6/13/31. As a child, Jack spent his time fishing and roaming the forests of Western PA. At the age of 16 he entered into the United States Navy, did boot camp at the Great Lakes and was commissioned on the USS Leyte, an aircraft carrier in the Korean War. Before serving in the Korean War he had 2 tours in the Mediterranean. After being discharged from the Navy, Jack worked in the steel mills of PA, where he still continue his love for fishing. When the mills closed, he followed his parents to Ocean City, NJ. It was in Ocean City that his career began as a mason, which resulted in his working 28 years with Frank Galante and Sons and then IU Local 33 in Atlantic City. Always an avid saltwater fisherman, he and a friend started the Jersey Cape Tackle Co. which resulted in the design and production of the “infamous” Rainbow Rascal bucktail. Jack was in his time, a legend to the local fishermen in catching trophy fish of all species and held many field and stream and records. He will be greatly missed by many and loved by all.

He is survived by his wife, M. Suzanne (Jones) Andrews, sons, J. David Andrews, former spouse Beth (Ripa) Andrews, their children, Allison and Kyle, John W. Andrews, wife Nancy (Guernaccini) Andrews, children, Sarah, John Patrick and wife Luanne, S. Joseph Andrews.

A service of memory and love will be offered Saturday morning at 11 o’clock from Praise Tabernacle 2235 Ocean Heights Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, NJ where friends may call from 10 o’clock until the time of service. Burial is private.
