The Ocean City High School surf team did its part in the water. Now supporters have a chance to do their part to help our local surfers gain national recognition.

Nine Red Raider surfers have qualified to compete on the national stage, the National Scholastic Surf Association National Surfing Championships at Salt Creek in Orange County, California from  June 13-17.

Two fundraisers are currently planned to help these great student athletes cover their travel expenses for the competition. The first is a “Family Event” taking place Thursday, April 19 at Bocca Coal Fired Bistro in Margate from 5-8pm.  Tickets are $20 individual or $50 Family ticket and include gourmet pizza and salads.

The other event is set for Saturday, May 12 at D’Orio’s Circle Café in Somers Point.

The team will hold raffles with tremendous prizes including a custom surfboard, shaped by Brian Wynn in partnership with Heritage Surf and Sport Ocean City. Heritage Surf and Sport Ocean City also donated an O’Neil 4/3 full wetsuit for the raffle.

For tickets to either or both events, contact Christopher Oliva at 609.602.0508 or visit Heritage Surf and Sport in Ocean City. Even if you are unable to attend the events, raffle tickets for the custom board and wetsuit may be purchased there separately.
