An all-things-Frankenstein exhibit that was a popular fixture of the atrium outside the Ocean City Free Public Library last October will return this year starting on Wednesday (Oct. 1).
WHAT: An all-new Frankenstein exhibit with portraits, cartoons and drawings of the world’s most famous monster will be shown through October. The opening will be on Wed., Oct. 1 at 11 a.m.
WHERE: In the atrium of the Ocean City Free Public Library’s main entrance, 17th Street and Simpson Avenue.
WHAT ELSE: The collection has been compiled by Ron MacCloskey an actor, Groucho Marx impersonator and creator of the “Lucky Guess Game Show featured at the library during First Night. He will discuss the new exhibit at 11 a.m., Wed., Oct. 1 at the atrium site.
Among the over 50 portraits to be displayed is one of Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
“He loved old horror movies, especially Frankenstein,” Priscilla told MacCloskey. It is the work of British cartoonist Paul Garner and cleverly alludes to the couple’s enthusiasm for the star-crossed monster. The portrait is autographed by Priscilla.
MacCloskey will also present “The World of Frankenstein, a “Fan’s Tribute to the Monster,” on Thurs., Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. This is an original show written and performed by MacCloskey. It will be held in the library’s main auditorium.
