Doo Dah Parade

What: 33rd annual Doo Dah Parade in Ocean City, NJ

When: Parade begins at noon Saturday, April 14, 2018

Where: The parade route starts at Sixth Street and travels downtown Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, then turns to the Boardwalk at 12th Street and (new this year) finishes on the boardwalk at Sixth Street.

What Else: Former “CHiPs” star Erik Estrada is grand marshal. The procession features marching bands, a brigade of more than 500 basset hounds and other celebrity guests. The traditional finale at the end of the parade includes a “Pie-asco” in which everybody is invited to smoosh their friends with shaving-cream pies. This year’s event moves to Sixth Street and will start as the basset hound brigade reaches the end of the parade route.

Mr. Mature America Pageant

What: 5th annual Mr. Mature America Pageant in Ocean City, NJ

When: Pageant begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018.

Where: Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace).

Last year, Mr. Mature America 2017 Matthew Allen accepted his crown from Rene Sese,
Mr. Mature America 2016.

What Else: The pageant mixes self-deprecating humor with nostalgia and talent in a tribute to men ages 55 and older. The Ocean City Music Pier crowd is raucous and appreciative as the contestants ham it up on stage, competing in talent, poise and interview segments. Estrada will host the fifth annual event and conduct the on-stage interviews with contestants. Judges include Frank Faralli Jr. (the first Mr. Mature America), Miss Pennsylvania Katie Schreckengast (Top 10 at Miss America), and Miss Senior America 2017 Carolyn Slade Harden, who also will perform.
