The sixth and final “Fridays With Friends” event for local teenagers will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 21, and include a bonfire and barbecue.

Ocean City police and fire personnel will help set up a controlled outdoor fire in the shell-covered armory parking lot across 18th Street from the Ocean City Community Center from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The new “Fridays With Friends” program invites teenagers to hang out at the Community Center to listen to music, watch movies, participate in workout programs and swim. The event is for Ocean City and  Upper Township students 14 to 18 years old. Teens must show their school identification, but there is no cost to participate.

The Municipal Alliance Committee, Ocean City Police Department and Community Policing Unit, Ocean City Free Public Library, Ocean City Aquatic and Fitness Center, and Ocean City Recreation Department co-sponsor the seasonal series of events and are expected to bring it back next winter.

Friday’s event will include (in addition to the bonfire) table tennis, a movie, Xbox games and more. For more information, call Lisa Rumer at 609-525-9317 or e-mail lrumer@ocnj.us.
