DATE: Friday, May 8

PROGRESS: The hopper dredge Liberty Island returned to action on Thursday after several days of repair and was going full steam on Friday. Work has reached 46th Street with beaches closed at 45th and 46th Street on a foggy Friday.

WHAT’S NEXT: The project will proceed to 49th Street (anticipated to be complete by mid-May), 55th to 49th (mid-May to mid-June), 55th to 59th (mid-June to mid-July). The southern block will require more work to rebuild and repair dunes, so those time frames are longer.
