Award Winning Author Sharon Draper to Speak at Library on Wednesday

Sharon Draper will speak at the Ocean City Public Library at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Sharon Draper is a professional educator and the award winning author of “Out of My Mind.”

Draper is a professional educator and an acclaimed author of books for young adults.

Draper received the Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Literary Achievement in 2015. She won the Coretta Scott King Literary Awards five times and has been honored as the National Teacher of the Year.

“Out of My Mind” is one of Draper’s most successful novels and a New York Times best seller. It tells the story of a young girl with cerebral palsy who joins her school’s trivia team. “Out of My Mind” and “Tears of a Tiger,” another Draper novel, can be purchased at Sun Rose Words & Music on Asbury Ave.

Draper will discuss education, literacy in schools, and her writing. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Draper questions after she speaks. Draper will also sign books.
