The Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes John James, former lead singer of The Newsboys, for the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services on Sunday, July 25. Also returning to the Tabernacle on July 25 will be the Christian music trio Point of Grace for a free concert at 7 p.m.

Ocean City Women’s Lifeguard Invitational Set for Thursday

The Ocean City Beach Patrol will host its Women’s Lifeguard Invitational at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at 34th Street Beach. The top female athletes from 15 to 18 beach patrols on the Jersey Shore will compete in the annual event.

American Legion Hosts Hoagie Sale

On Saturday, July 24, the Ocean City American Legion Post 524 will hold its annual hoagie sale at Post headquarters, 46th Street and West Avenue, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The yearly event is always popular and is guaranteed to sell out, especially since it falls on the same day as Night in Venice, according to a news release. Plane Lands on Ocean City Bridge

A small plane made an emergency landing on the Ninth Street Bridge in Ocean City on Monday afternoon. No injuries have been reported. Traffic was halted.

Ocean City Police to Remind Drivers of LSV Safety Laws

With the increased use of low-speed vehicles (LSVs) in town, police will begin conducting special enforcement details to remind drivers of the importance of following the law when it comes to traffic safety in Ocean City.  LSVs (golf carts and similar vehicles) must be titled, registered and insured to operate on roadways, just as other automobiles must. They are limited to roads with a speed limit of 25 mph. Child restraints must meet the same standards as those used in passenger vehicles. Police have observed a number of LSVs in town operating in violation of these laws, according to a news release Thursday.

The Ocean City Tabernacle welcomes back six-time NFL Pro Bowler and former Philadelphia Eagles kicker David Akers for the 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services on Sunday, July 18. Also returning to the Tabernacle on July 18 for a free concert at 7 p.m. will be singer-songwriter, recording artist and worship leader Laura Story.

Another View on the Proposed Windmills

Richard Bernardini, an Ocean City resident, writes an opinion piece on how home rule would be affected by state legislation designed to fast-track a proposed wind energy farm off the South Jersey coast. He also takes exception to what he believes is a "misleading" rendering, published by OCNJDaily.com on June 18, that depicts what the wind turbines might look like if viewed from the Ocean City shoreline at sunrise.
