Mayor’s Message: ‘We Need to be Patient’

Mayor Jay Gillian is urging the community to be patient while the beaches, boardwalk and other attractions remain closed during the coronavirus pandemic. "No decision has been made about when the beaches and boardwalk in Ocean City will reopen," he said in a statement Friday. "The first priority right now is the health and safety of everybody in town. We also are working every day with health officials, local merchants and others to share information and establish the policies and protocols that will keep us all safe when we do reopen." County Reports Another Coronavirus Death

The Cape May County Health Department reported Friday that an 89-year-old man from Lower Township has died from COVID-19. The total number of coronavirus cases in Cape May County is now 346, including 22 deaths, according to a county press release.

Cape May County Parks to Reopen Saturday

Cape May County will reopen its County Parks System effective 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 2. However, there will be restrictions for social distancing while the coronavirus pandemic continues.

County Reports 12 New Coronavirus Cases

The Cape May County Health Department reported 12 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday. Cape May County has a total of 314 confirmed cases, including 20 deaths. Fourteen of the deaths are associated with long-term care facilities, according to a county press release. Two More Cape May County Residents Die of Coronavirus

The Cape May County Health Department reported Monday that a 65-year-old woman from Dennis Township and a 92-year-old woman from Lower Township have died of COVID-19. Thirteen new cases were confirmed. Cape May County’s coronavirus cases now total 302, including 20 deaths overall, according to a press release.

Cape May County Reports New COVID-19 Death

The Cape May County Department of Health on Sunday confirmed one new death and three new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive to 289 countywide. The death toll now stands at 18 countywide. No details were disclosed about the latest death in a county press release.

Bay Avenue Construction Update

The contractor overseeing Bay Avenue's reconstruction has completed the installation of the new 20-inch diameter PVC pipe, backfilled and temporarily paved over the entire length of the project. Bay Avenue is currently open to two lanes of traffic. Details follow on the construction work scheduled for the upcoming week.
