Mayor’s Message: Police Preparing for Possible Protest Tuesday

Following is a statement from Mayor Jay Gillian: The Ocean City Police Department has received information that a protest is being planned for Tuesday as part of the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Police are investigating further, coordinating with several other agencies and preparing for any potential situation. As we receive additional information, we will inform the public.

Car Crash Ties Up Traffic

A car accident backed up traffic on the Route 52 Causeway bridge into Ocean City on Saturday. Police Department spokesman Lt. Pat Randles said no one was injured in the 1:55 p.m. crash at the intersection of Ninth Street and Bay Avenue, at the foot of the bridge.

Mayor’s Message: No Tax Increase in Budget

Mayor Jay Gillian discusses the city's proposed 2020 municipal budget, which keeps local property taxes the same. Elderly Man Dies of COVID-19

An 85-year-old man from Middle Township has died from COVID-19, the Cape May County Department of Health reported Friday in the latest update on the number of coronavirus cases. Six more residents have been infected by the virus, bringing the total number of cases countywide to 622. Altogether, there have been 48 deaths in the county, including 38 in long-term care living centers.
