Hoy’s 5&10 has been the fun place to shop for over 75 years. It is not your typical 5&10 store, but it does have items you remember from years ago, plus all of the latest toys and beach apparel. Hoy’s 5&10 has always been the “store” to shop at the Jersey Shore for everything you need for the beach but it offers so much more.  With four locations in Avalon, Stone Harbor and two in Ocean City, each store is customized to its clientele.

Author Josh McDowell Speaks at Ocean City Tabernacle

Author and evangelical apologist Josh McDowell appears for two special events this weekend at the Ocean City Tabernacle. On Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., McDowell presents “Discover the Evidence,” a “tactical adventure through history and archeology” featuring ancient artifacts that can be seen and touched. On Sunday, June 6, McDowell will speak on the necessity of parents building good relationships with their children in the Tabernacle’s 8:30 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services.

More Shows Announced in Summer Concert Series at Music Pier

Four new shows in the popular Summer Concert Series at the Ocean City Music Pier were announced Tuesday. Details follow.

Dedication and Flag-Raising Ceremony at Music Pier

The daily Boardwalk flag-raising ceremony, a beloved tradition in Ocean City, continued on Memorial Day at a new location in front of the Music Pier. There was also a dedication. The program included the playing of the national anthem and a medley of patriotic songs, according to a city news release. A newly installed flagpole in front of the Music Pier was dedicated to the memory of three veterans from Ocean City: Joe Caserta, James “JR” Robinson and Bill Cruice. Family members of the men were on hand for the ceremony.

Ocean City Exchange Club to Host Charity Golf Outing

The Exchange Club of Ocean City will host the 2021 Roger LaRosa Charity Golf Outing on Monday, June 7, at Harbor Pines Golf Club, 500 St. Andrews Drive, Egg Harbor Township. The annual event raises thousands of dollars for local charities and is open to the public. Details follow on how to register for the event.

Live Shows Return to Ocean City for Summer 2021

With the lifting of capacity limits at performance venues in New Jersey, live entertainment returns to Ocean City for summer 2021. Details follow for summer concerts at the Music Pier, the Ocean City Pops and the Ocean City Theatre Company Summer Children's Series.

Key Clubs, Kiwanis Host Scholarship Walk

The Key Clubs of Ocean City High School and Mainland Regional High School, the Northfield-Linwood Kiwanis Foundation and Club, Stockton Circle-K and the local Aktion Club joined forces for the inaugural Key Club Scholarship Walk. The multi-Kiwanis Family walkathon on May 22 was a fundraiser for the Northfield-Linwood Kiwanis Foundation. The purpose was to award scholarships to Key Club members at Ocean City and Mainland Regional High Schools, promote the education and independent living of young people and adults with disabilities, and fund other charitable causes to help meet the needs of the community, according to a news release.

Special Weather Statement: Coastal Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning in effect for Ocean City from 9 p.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Sunday. Steady northeast winds gusting up to 45 mph and heavy rain will coincide with an exceptionally high tide to produce “moderate” flooding conditions. Expect widespread street flooding.
