Trying to Make Sense of the School Board Turmoil

As a parent of three children that are all in the Ocean City School District, I have been disheartened to hear and read about the recent allegations that have been made by the Upper Township School District against the Ocean City School District. I think like a lot of people I have spoken to, most don’t fully understand what has created the turmoil. My hope is to provide facts that can help everyone understand what has brought us to this point...

Pink Moon Puts on Spectacular Sky Show Above Ocean City

The April full moon, which peaked yesterday and reached its fullest point around 2 a.m., is not named after its hue, but pink wild flowers called wild ground phlox, known to bloom around this time each year and are prevalent throughout the continental United States and Canada. Our event was able to raise $4,400 from ticket sales, refreshment sales, and donations. As always, it's incredibly gratifying to receive the amount of support, donations, and encouragement that we received.

Mayor’s Update 11/18:

Our Public Works Department repainted the faded yellow lines on Central Avenue in front of the Ocean City Police Department on Thursday, and they added a blue line down the center of the roadway. The new color is a show of respect for law enforcement officers, who must come to work each day prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect our community. We’re blessed in Ocean City to have exceptional public safety departments, and these men and women deserve our full support. I hope to see a thin red line added to the 500 block of Asbury Avenue to symbolize the same respect for our Ocean City Fire Department. We all should be grateful to these professionals not only for keeping us safe, but for the many other ways they serve the community.
